Prayer

Al-Furqan is open for all five of the daily prayers. During daytime, the main prayer hall can be used for reading the Qur'an and quiet contemplation. It can accommodate over 600 people, including space dedicated just for women.

Religious Advice & Counselling

Muslims turn to Al-Furqan for help and advice in all aspects of their lives. Al-Furqan has experienced Imams to advise and counsel on the concerns of the community such as bereavement, cultural challenges, youth issues and matrimonial problems.

New Muslim Advice & Support

As an increasing number of people find out about Islam, many decide to convert. Some face difficulties from friends and family who may disown them. Al-Furqan provides advice, support and friendship. We have an informal meeting every Wednesday at 1 Martha Street between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm, so that you can learn to pray, read the Qur'an and perform the other duties that a Muslim is required to perform. You can read more at New To Islam.

Marriage Solemnisation

Family life is the building block of a successful society, and marriage is an occasion of great joy in the Muslim community. Al-Furqan facilitates marriage introduction and also the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage. The newly-married couple is provided with an official "Nikah" certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.

Grooming the Groom

A week or some days before the marriage, we provide a sixty minute session for the groom.

Thirty minutes are spent on the importance of marriage and its impact on society. This is followed by another thirty minute session by one of the local Imams. This includes a one-to-one session with the Imam which allows the groom to ask any question that still remains unanswered, hence preparing well in advance for the marriage.

Grooms are encouraged to take advantage of this FREE service of SMPA. Free literature is provided at the end of the session.
